CLEANING & WHITENING
Our specialized cleanings and whitenings ensure a radiant smile
We provide a wide range of services from urgent assistance to preventive care. Everything you need to be done with your teeth, can be done here at Glastonbury Dental Care.
To maintain optimal oral health, the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends visiting your dentist at least once per year. Children should be taught proper oral hygiene at an early age. These practices are designed to ensure that teeth are clean, strong and white. Such regular teeth and gums examinations will ensure that your health is in no danger. It will confirm that every dental concern or issue is detected and fixed by Dr. Finch at once. We have a long list of regular customers with that in mind, who visit our Dental Center on a regular basis.
Teeth cleanings, Fluoride and Sealant are just a few of our Preventative Dental Procedures. Dr. Finch recommends a regular assessment of dental caries, plaque, calculus, and staining. That is why he recommends all our patients schedule a regular visit to our Dental Center. Such a regular checkup will ensure that any potential problems will be spotted on time and there will be an option to easily get it fixed. Also, oral health diagnostics is a built-in part of all our appointments.
YOUR ROLE IN PREVENTION
There’s one more extremely important component of preventive dentistry: you. The procedures mentioned above can only be effective if you come in to the Dental Center to take advantage of them. Likewise, the importance of maintaining a good oral hygiene routine at home cannot be overstated. Daily effective brushing and flossing will go a long way toward removing the dental plaque responsible for dental disease, tooth loss, and the need for more complex dental treatment.
SERVICE OVERVIEW
Restorative Dentistry is the term dental professionals use to explain how they replace missing or damaged teeth. Fillings, crowns, bridges and implants are common restorative options. The goal is to bring back your natural smile and prevent future oral health issues.
Restorative Solutions is an essential part of our modern life. It may take care of purely aesthetic concerns of the patient (teeth whitening, straightening; etc…). Also, it may involve fixing teeth that were mechanically damaged or chipped off. Sometimes it involves Dental Filling and Bonding, which are quite simple dental procedures. Usually, they do not require numbing or any kind of anesthesia applied.
Just with the help of bonding and adhering materials, the damaged tooth area can be easily visually fixed. The same goes for other aesthetic and generally cosmetic dental procedures which we offer. Restorative Solutions – Restoring teeth in bad condition is what we specialize in. It may include laser restoration and Invisalign service.
A crown is a tooth-shaped cap that is placed over a tooth. It is used to strengthen and protect your tooth structure. Your dentist prepares the tooth, takes an impression and the crown is made in a lab by a specialist. A crown is ideal for people with broken teeth or cavities.

SERVICE OVERVIEW
Although cosmetic dentistry is not considered a recognized specialty in the Dental Profession, it does take years of extensive studies and training to become a cosmetic dentist and be able to perform the procedures that are available today. In general terms a cosmetic dentist is actually a restorative dentist who has studied and trained extensively for the concepts of smile design and the usage of dental materials that create the best possible smile for an individual.

BONDING & VENEERS
Dental Bonding and Porcelain Veneers are two alternative ways to achieve a similar result.
Typically, veneers and/or bonding are used to correct misaligned, discolored, and chipped/broken teeth. Anywhere from a single tooth to many teeth can be covered with veneers or bonding. Dental Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that sit on the front layer of your teeth. They can add length, change the shape and/or improve the color of your teeth. A single veneer can be placed individually to cover just one tooth if that is all that is required. However, if you want to improve the appearance of your entire smile, you may need to have a full set of veneers so that all the teeth that show when you smile are the same size, color and “shape”. Dental Bonding will stain and veneers will not.
ZOOM! TEETH WHITENING
Are you ready for an effective Teeth Whitening Solution? Are you embarrassed and ashamed to smile because your teeth are severely stained? Have you tried countless over-the-counter teeth whitening products that produce very little, if any, results? Many dental patients are looking to brighten their smiles. Tooth whitening lightens your teeth to remove stains and discoloration and discoloration. Whitening is among the most popular cosmetic dental procedures because it can greatly improve how your teeth look. Create a whiter, brighter smile in less time than your lunch break.
Dr. Finch offers the Zoom! Chair side Whitening System. Zoom! is fast, convenient, low sensitivity, and has been proven to be safe and effective. With Zoom!, you need an hour appointment, and you can expect an average change of eight shades lighter. Whether you have a special occasion or simply want to reduce discoloration and stains, Philips Zoom! gives you professional results with little or no sensitivity.
SERVICE OVERVIEW
At the Glastonbury Dental Center, our goal is to offer an easy and effective orthodontic experience to patients. We focus on a patient-friendly atmosphere and approach that delivers cutting-edge orthodontic treatment. Our proven orthodontic treatment methods apply innovative simplicity to create your brightest smile. Orthodontic care is not just about straight teeth. Dr. Finch’s personalized treatment is considerate of the impact your teeth have on your lips, chin and face. The outcome of your orthodontic treatment is as important to us as it is to you.
Dr. Finch is one of Central Connecticut’s leading providers of advanced dental treatments including Clear Aligner Therapy. Clear Aligner Therapy takes a modern approach to straight teeth, using a custom-fitted series of aligners. These aligners are made of smooth, clear plastic that you simply wear over your teeth. This discreet appearance earned clear aligners the nickname, “invisible braces.” Wearing clear aligners will gradually, gently shift your teeth into place. You just swap out each aligner in the series based on Dr. Finch’s treatment plan. No brackets, no wires. The only thing people will notice is your beautiful smile.
A period of life from birth to the adolescence is probably the most important one with regard to a person’s health. This is a period when kids lose baby teeth. This is a period of life when oral hygiene may be breached by a child and cause an infection, disease or simply dental caries. Also, this is the critical time to implement any cosmetic, restorative or straightening decisions early on. With our welcoming atmosphere and our friendly team of professionals, your kid will love sitting in a dentist’s chair for once! It’s crucial to check Children’s Oral Health even more often, than the adults’ teeth. Our friendly and caring staff look forward to seeing your child.
SERVICE OVERVIEW
Dental Implants are the premier treatment option for one or more missing teeth. Dental Implants have evolved over the past forty years into a mainstream restorative option for patients who wish to have a permanent and natural looking replacement for missing teeth. The natural look and feel of implanted teeth have restored confidence and comfort for thousands of people suffering from tooth loss. Whether you are missing one or all of your teeth, dental implant procedures can restore a lasting smile and sense of well being.
A Dental Implant is a highly engineered titanium post which is placed into the jaw bone in much the same position as a natural tooth root. The implant has an acid etched and sandblaster surface which helps the bone adhere to the implant during the healing process. Approximately two to four months after initial placement, the implant is well healed and is as stable and sturdy as a natural tooth root. At this point, the implant is ready for restoration by a cosmetic or restorative dentist who will place a crown permanently into the implant “root” creating a natural looking, fully functional tooth which appears to be grow naturally from beneath the gum tissue. A Dental Implant is extremely natural looking, durable and has a very good success rate (approximately 90% over 40 years). These attributes have made Dental Implants one of the most sought after treatments for missing teeth.
Of course, Dr. Finch and his staff at the Glastonbury Dental Center will create a beautiful, natural looking and functioning result. Dental implants can be used to replace traditional dentures, replace a single tooth or multiple teeth. In most cases, a dental implant is in your best interest, over a partial denture or a bridge.
SERVICE OVERVIEW
Laser Dentistry reduces, and in some cases even replaces the need for a dental drill. This advancement offers patients multiple benefits including the ability to forgo anesthetic. That means “No Needles” and minimal inflammation and discomfort, which can often accelerate the healing process. This means that you’ll see the final results you’re looking for even faster.
If you are interested in a new, fresh approach to dental care, consider Laser Dentistry in Glastonbury CT. At the Glastonbury Dental Center, we can use Laser Dentistry to treat our patients’ oral health concerns in a way that is comfortable and effective. If you live in Glastonbury CT, Manchester CT or the surrounding area and are looking for Modern Dental Care, give us a call.
Laser Dentistry Provides a Better Experience
By performing Laser Dental Treatments, we can eliminate the common reasons why people are uncomfortable during dental procedures – heat, pressure, and vibration. Once eliminated, many people do not even need anesthesia. That is why we can often complete fillings without our patients requesting an injection. Additionally, laser technology allows us to more accurately target specific areas of your mouth. The laser is incredibly thin so we can make precise incisions when necessary.
We can even use lasers to correct issues like tooth decay. The difference is that the surrounding gum tissue is not impacted or irritated in any way. With traditional metal dental tools, a Dentist may irritate the surrounding tissue with an accidental slip of the hand. By removing this risk, our patients can undergo the same dental procedures but with a faster recovery time. Simultaneously, our patients are more comfortable than if the procedure was performed in the traditional manner.
For example, Laser Dental Fillings achieve the same results but without the discomfort. Simultaneously, lasers can also be used to help stop the bleeding so that when a more intensive procedure is being performed, gauze may be unnecessary or only used temporarily. Patients can appreciate the opportunity to have dental work completed in this non-invasive way. If you would like to experience Laser Dentistry for yourself, we invite you to call (860) 289-8219 and schedule an appointment.
Laser Teeth Whitening
At the Glastonbury Dental Center, we can transform your ordinary smile into something truly beautiful. If you are tired of having yellow or stained teeth, you are not alone. In our high tech Dental Center, we can perform an in-office whitening treatment with dramatic results. Your teeth can become eight shades whiter or more in a single sitting. The lasers essentially activate the whitening solution that is placed on your teeth. This means that your teeth will whiten much faster than if you treated them at home. While the results are stunning, the procedure is still entirely safe, making it an excellent solution for improving your appearance.
You can also whiten your teeth using custom-made whitening trays, and while this works, it can take a week or two to achieve the same results that we can get in an hour. When trying to decide which option to select, consider how much time you have to spend whitening your teeth and whether or not you have an immediate event that you want your teeth whitened for. If you are pressed for time, you should definitely have an in-office laser whitening treatment. We can schedule you and improve your smile in time for a new job interview, family vacation, wedding, etc.
When you visit the Glastonbury Dental Center, we will work to the best of our ability to provide you with the highest quality of dental care and do so in a way that is relaxing and comfortable. By offering Laser Dental Treatments, we eliminate the vibration, heat and pressure that generally causes discomfort during Dental Procedures. In fact, we even offer fillings without the need to use a drill. Laser Dentistry is used in our office so that we can achieve our goal of keeping you comfortable.
The technology is continuing to change and improve so if there are procedures that we are still using traditional dental tools for, we expect all or most of them to eventually be done using lasers. For now, we have implemented the use of lasers in our procedures to place dental veneers, fillings, crowns, dental implants, to whiten teeth, and treat gum disease, among others. If you want to learn more about how we use laser technology currently, call Glastonbury Dental Center and schedule an appointment with our dental office.
SERVICE OVERVIEW
Sleep Apnea is an involuntary cessation of breathing that occurs while the patient is asleep. There are three types of sleep apnea: obstructive, central, and mixed. Of the three, obstructive sleep apnea, often called OSA for short, is the most common. Despite the difference in the root cause of each type, in all three, people with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing repeatedly during their sleep, sometimes hundreds of times during the night and often for a minute or longer. In most cases the sleeper is unaware of these breath stoppages because they don’t trigger a full awakening.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I schedule a dental check-up?
Annual check-ups and cleanings are the general standard for patients with good dental health. You should always be seen immediately if you have any type of swelling, pain or gum bleeding.
What should I do if I’m feeling pain in my tooth?
Ice packs and aspirin can often provide temporary relief until you can be seen, but remember that most dental problems will only become worse in time. Immediate treatment is essential!
What does it mean if my gums are bleeding?
Plaque buildup is the most common cause of bleeding gums, but it can also be an early sign of an advanced gum disease. We will gladly take a look and help you determine the ideal treatment.
How Does Laser Dentistry Work?
Heat, vibration and pressure are the primary causes of pain associated with the use of the traditional dental drill. Since cutting both hard and soft tissues (teeth and gums) with Laser Dentistry does not generate heat, vibration or pressure, many dental procedures can be performed with fewer shots, less need for anesthesia, less use of the drill and fewer numb lips! Additionally, Laser Dentistry Treatments for gum procedures can often reduce bleeding, post-operative pain, swelling and the need for pain medication in many cases.
At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Dr. Finch is a Root Canal Dentist that will be able to observe the symptoms of the infection and then we can identify the visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.
If you experience any of these symptoms, our Root Canal Dentist may recommend non-surgical treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp. This injured pulp can then be removed so that the root canal system can be thoroughly cleaned and sealed. This therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required. Success for this type of Root Canal Dentistry Treatment occurs in greater than 90% of cases.
If your tooth is not amenable to a Root Canal Dentistry or the chance of success is unfavorable, you will be informed at the time of consultation or when a complication becomes evident during or after treatment. We use local anesthesia to eliminate discomfort. In addition, we can provide nitrous oxide analgesia if indicated. You will be able to drive home after your Root Canal Dentistry Treatment, and likely can return to your normal routine.
Root Canal Treatment can be used to locate fractures or hidden canals that do not appear on x-rays but still manifest pain in the tooth. Damaged root surfaces or the surrounding bone may also be treated with this procedure. The most common surgery used to save damaged teeth is an apicoectomy or root-end resection.
When your Root Canal Treatment has been completed, a record of your treatment will be sent to your restorative dentist. You should contact their office for a follow-up restoration within two weeks of completion at our office. Your Root Canal Dentist will decide on what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth. It is rare for endodontic patients to experience complications after routine endodontic treatment or microsurgery. If a problem does occur, however, we are available at all times to respond. To prevent further decay, continue to practice good dental hygiene.
The cost associated with this procedure can vary depending on factors such as the severity of damage to the affected tooth, which tooth is affected, and any primary or secondary insurance plans. In general, a Root Canal Treatment is much less expensive than tooth removal and replacement with an artificial tooth.
Set up a free consultation today to learn how a Root Canal Procedure can help provide you with a great smile that you can be proud of, call Dr. Finch and schedule an appointment. (860) 289-8219
Dr. Finch is a Root Canal Specialist and the caring team at The Glastonbury Dental provides specialty care to dental patients that are in need of complex care. You can conveniently receive treatment for most of your oral health needs. We provide the following services at our Dentist Office in Glastonbury CT 06033
A Cosmetic Dentistry Procedure
The Zoom! Teeth Whitening System is a fast, safe and effective teeth whitening system available with the supervision of your dentist. It’s a bleaching process that lightens the discoloration of enamel and dentin – the hard, dense tissue that forms the primary matter of the tooth beneath the enamel. When you set up your consultation with Dr. Finch, we’ll recommend a solution that best works for you, to fit your lifestyle and budget.
The Zoom! Teeth Whitening System is an in-office bleaching process that is widely known for its ability to quickly brighten teeth from the effects of discoloration. The complete procedure takes about 90-Minutes, but Dr. Finch recommends a teeth cleaning prior to the Zoom! Teeth Whitening Treatment. Once the lips and gums are safely covered, we will apply the patented Zoom! Hydrogen Peroxide Whitening Gel. The Zoom! Teeth Whitening System incorporates a special light that penetrates the teeth to break up stains and discoloration. During the process the patient is free to relax, watch TV, or listen to music.
The Zoom! Teeth Whitening System is a Cosmetic Dentistry Procedure
The Zoom! Teeth Whitening System lightens the color of teeth and helps to remove stains and discoloration. It is the most popular treatment by both men and women alike and the treatments available include a 90-Minute Dental Visit as well as a take-home do-it-yourself kit. Zoom! Teeth Whitening is very popular because it can significantly improve the appearance of your teeth at much less cost and inconvenience than other techniques.
The Zoom! Teeth Whitening in-Office procedure generally takes about 90 minutes, which includes the preparation, the whitening and then removal of the whitening solution. The actual procedure involves using a Zoom! Light that helps activate the hydrogen peroxide within the whitening solution. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down it allows for oxygen to enter the tooth’s enamel and dentin, bleaching any colored areas while the structure of the tooth remains unchanged. Studies show that the use of the Zoom! Lamp helps to improve the effectiveness of the whitening solution by 26% or higher, offering, on average, an improvement of up to eight shades.
Zoom! Teeth Whitening exists to remove the stains and debris associated with diet and aging. Yellow or stained teeth are a common problem most Americans will develop at some point in their lives but can remedy with proper treatment. Our teeth contain enamel, a porcelain-like surface that started out sparkling white. Tooth enamel is designed to protect the teeth from the effects of chewing, gnashing, trauma and acid attacks caused by sugar. Over time, our enamel starts to hold stains within its pores and becomes more transparent and permits the yellow color of dentin, the tooth’s core material, to show through. As more stains and debris accumulate because of normal wear and tear and eating habits, the teeth develop a dull, lackluster appearance.
With the Zoom! Teeth Whitening in-office teeth whitening, you will also be given a Zoom! take-home whitening system, which can used for touch-ups. This take-home system includes custom fitted trays designed from impressions of the upper and lower teeth.
Enjoy the convenience of the Zoom! Teeth Whitening System for your teeth from just about anywhere you want, at any time. The Zoom! Teeth Whitening take-home whitening system uses custom fitted trays designed from an impression we take of your teeth. Simply put the gel into your trays and wear the trays for the recommended time, and applications, either during the day or even at night, while you sleep.
Just like any product that you use on your body, it’s important to follow and understand the Zoom! Teeth Whitening directions, as some whitening products may irritate your gums or cause sensitivity if they are used incorrectly or too often. Extensive dental research and clinical studies consider teeth whitening to be safe under the supervision of a dentist.
The safest way to whiten your teeth is under the supervision of one of our dentists, who will not only assess your overall oral health, but the health of your teeth, including the oral health history.
Dr. Finch may know that you are likely to experience sensitivity and may recommend a more gentle solution to maximize the results you want with a teeth whitening plan that will not provide any discomfort.
Set up a consultation today to learn how the Zoom! Teeth Whitening System can help provide you with a great smile that you can be proud of, call Dr. Finch and schedule an appointment. (860) 289-8
Save Your Smile with Cosmetic Dental Veneers
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN GETTING COSMETIC DENTAL VENEERS
1. Dr. FINCH WILL ONLY RECOMMEND VENEERS AFTER A DENTAL EXAM
Each dental patient has their own unique needs. Their overall health, their oral health and the alignment of their teeth will determine if cosmetic dental veneers will improve their smile. That is why Dr. Finch will conduct a thorough dental exam before recommending veneers.
Depending on the results of the dental exam, Dr. Finch and his experienced staff will do one of three things. They may start the process of putting in dental veneers, or they may start the patient on other cosmetic dental treatments as preparation for the dental veneers. Dr. Finch may also recommend an entirely different dental treatment. Here are some common scenarios Dr. Finch will have to deal with when putting in dental veneers.
Severely crowded, gapped or crooked teeth that need to be corrected with orthodontic treatment before cosmetic dental veneers are fitted.
At the start of this procedure, an initial “mold” is taken and sent to the lab for them to make a “wax up” of an ideal setup for the patient to how the final result will look. This process is also used to make a “temporary” after the teeth have been prepped and a final impression/mold is taken to make the actual veneers!
Cavities, gum disease, TMJ and any other existing conditions, which need to be resolved before dental veneers are put in.
For certain conditions, Dr. Finch will recommend alternatives to dental veneers. For example, teeth whose structures have been severely damaged by bruxism, injury or decay will have to be restored with crowns or even dental implants.
2. COSMETIC DENTAL VENEERS REQUIRE A TWO-STEP PROCEDURE
Cosmetic Dental Veneers are not fitted in a single dental visit. During the first visit, Dr. Finch will perform a complete dental exam, and if a patient is deemed suited for dental veneers, Dr. Finch will start the process of fitting them and then he will make a mold of the patient’s teeth.
The mold will be sent to a lab and used to make the dental veneers. Meanwhile, Dr. Finch will help the patient design the perfect smile and choose the shape and color of the veneers. They will then prepare the surface of the patient’s teeth for the placement of the cosmetic dental veneers and conclude the visit by placing temporary dental veneers on the teeth. During the second visit, Dr. Finch will place the permanent dental veneers.
3. THE RESTORED TEETH WILL BE SHORTER WITH THINNER ENAMEL
To accommodate dental veneers, the surfaces of the teeth must be prepared by removing some enamel. The teeth may also have to be made shorter and thinner to make space for the dental veneers. While placing dental veneers is not as invasive a process as dental crowns, it still involves altering the structure of the teeth. Not to fear, however, as an anesthetic is used to numb the teeth before they are altered, so getting dental veneers is a painless process.
4. HOW LONG VENEERS LAST
The durability of cosmetic dental veneers depends on two things: how well they are cared for and the material they are made from. Most veneers are made from porcelain or dental resin. Porcelain is tougher and more durable than resin, but if a person has bad dental habits, the dental veneers will chip and stain no matter what they are made of. When taken care of, veneers will last decades.
GIVE YOUR SMILE A BOOST WITH COSMETIC DENTAL VENEERS
If you want to improve the appearance of your teeth, call Dr. Finch and find out if dental veneers will do the trick. They are a popular cosmetic treatment that gives great results.

Great Ways That Parents Can Promote Good Dental/Oral Health with Kids
When all great efforts fail and your child gets a cavity, call Dr. Finch and ask about the Laser Dentistry Methods that do not require any drilling, needles and trauma. Dr. Finch uses the latest technologies for Laser Dentistry for a variety of applications including placing and replacing basic fillings, in cosmetic procedures such as defining gums, in periodontal and endodontic therapies, and even when placing dental implants.

Cerec Digital Imaging
The Cerec Machine allows Dr. Finch to make perfect and precise “Digital Impressions” of the teeth and gums. This Digital Impression allows Dr. Finch to make a perfect scan of the teeth with no bulky trays or putty running down the patients throat. Then, he will either use that digital image to mill out a crown the same day (eliminating the need for a temporary crown) or he will send that information to a lab depending on the patient’s needs. This scan can be used to make crowns, clear Ortho trays, dentures, night guards, sleep apnea devices and many other dental restorations.
Glastonbury Dental Center is Proudly Service the Following Communities in Central Connecticut:
One of the primary benefits to the patient is that the Cerec Technology allows Dr. Finch to create the Dental Crowns right in the office on the same day so patients do not have to walk around town for the next 2 weeks with a Temporary Crown that is prone to falling off every other day?

Cone beam CT scans provide more information that conventional dental x-ray, allowing for more precise treatment planning.
CT scanning is painless, noninvasive and accurate.
A major advantage of CT is its ability to image bone and soft tissue at the same time.
No radiation remains in a patient’s body after a CT examination.
X-rays used in CT scans should have no immediate side effects.

The Sirona Orthophos CBCT Scanner is shown below in the picture. This device is essentially a CAT scan for dentistry without the excessive radiation of a CAT scan. The normal exposure from the CBCT scan is roughly 1/3 the exposure of a traditional full mouth series of dental x-ray, yet it provides much more information. It creates a 3-D image of the oral cavity and allows Dr. Finch to see sinus, nerve canals and find pathology traditional dental X-rays can’t. It allows Dr. Finch and his staff to plan the exact size implant required for a space and then place it safely while avoiding critical landmarks such as nerves and sinuses.
This new technology allows Dr. Finch to take 3D CAT scans of the entire mouth at 1/3 the exposure of a traditional full set of xrays! This device also lets us discover previously unseen pathology and critical anatomical landmarks such as sinuses and nerve canals which allows us to place implants and perform surgeries with dramatically reduced risk of damaging these things. This device can automatically adapt to the patient‘s individual anatomical features, ensuring that the entire jaw is always in the sharp layer.
Dr. Finch has developed an appreciation for the latest in Dental Technologies and skills at his previous job in New York as the Assistant Dean and Director of Admissions and Student Affairs at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. He was very fortunate to have access to these amazing technologies and techniques as he taught future dentists and treated patients in his faculty practice.
Dr. Finch tries to balance all this technology out with his warm southern hospitality and a strong commitment to putting patients first. Which can be seen in the fact that my cell phone is on the office message and I’m always there for my patients.
